In 2024, the Central Taiwan Science Park published its first "Sustainable Development Goals Voluntary Department Reviews" (VDR) covering 2023. It won two major TCSA awards: the Platinum Award and the Circular Economy Leadership Award. With this honor and the expectations of everyone in mind, we have prepared the 2025 edition with determination and transparency. This report is more than just a record of our work; it is our plan to build the world's most competitive science park based on three core goals: Leading with Innovation, Building Long-Term Resilience, and Promoting Inclusive Co-prosperity.
Looking back at 2025, thanks to the rapid growth of AI and high-performance computing technology, the Central Taiwan Science Park achieved excellent results. Our total annual revenue reached NT$1.13 trillion, the second-highest in our history. Additionally, our total trade volume hit NT$1.39 trillion, and the number of people working in the park grew to 61,901. Both figures reached record highs. Beyond these figures, this success represents the strong support we provide to our local economy and shows that over 60,000 families are living and working happily.
In terms of leading with innovation, the Central Taiwan Science Park has never stopped preparing for the future. The highly anticipated Taichung Park expansion project started its public infrastructure work on time in June 2025, and the leading semiconductor company, TSMC, officially began building its factory there in October 2025. Once this project is finished, it is expected to create 4,500 high-quality jobs and add NT$500 billion to our economy each year, which helps maintain Taiwan's position as a global leader in semiconductor manufacturing. At the same time, our Erlin Park is becoming a new home for high-tech businesses, with its total sales growing by more than 200%. This shows how quickly the park is growing and how successful we are at helping many different types of businesses thrive.
Regarding resilience and sustainability, the Central Taiwan Science Park is actively moving toward a green transformation. The nation's first Taichung Zero-Waste Manufacturing Center is now fully operational at the Taichung Park, reducing the need to send 110,000 metric tons of waste off-site for processing each year and cutting carbon emissions by about 40,000 tons. The water recycling rate for the semiconductor and optoelectronics industries in the park has reached 91.9%. In 2025, we officially opened Taiwan's first Perovskite Zero-Carbon Building, which combines energy production and energy savings. Additionally, the reconstruction of the Taichung Park wastewater treatment plant was recognized with a Distinction award at the 25th Public Works Golden Quality Awards for its excellent engineering. By using MBR technology, the water discharged from this plant can now reach the quality of recycled water. All of these achievements are solid milestones in our journey toward becoming a sustainable, green science park.
In terms of working together for everyone's benefit, we have improved the learning opportunities at the park. The new school buildings for the CTSP Experimental High School were completed in the second quarter of 2025, and a new elementary school division opened in August of that same year. Regarding our efforts to protect nature and promote art, photos of public art installations at Houli Park were chosen by the Ministry of Education to be included in middle school art textbooks, serving as a great example of how landscape art and education can work together. Furthermore, we partnered with companies in the park to participate in Taiwan's first World Bird Fair, showing how our long-term care for the park's plants and environment has helped technology and nature coexist harmoniously.
Every number and project recorded in this report is the result of the hard work of all the staff at the Central Taiwan Science Park Bureau, our business partners, and everyone involved with us. We hope this report demonstrates our steady progress on the path toward sustainability, as we work together to build a future where smart technology and nature can thrive side by side.
